During the months when my computer was not working I began listening to the song called, “23” by Jimmy Eat World. This song inspired me and gave me an idea for a series. The song generally was for a particular scene in my show (one that has not yet happened in “What Lies Ahead”). This scene was the basis for my show (the scene that the entire show revolved around) and the main reason I decided to create, “What Lies Ahead”.
When my computer was fixed I began planning the new series. The series was based on six children who had been friends forever and were taking on life together. The main character (now Daniel from, “What Lies Ahead”) was just getting over the death of his mother who had recently died in a car crash. I began making sets and a cast for my new show (unnamed at the time) and I even put out a trailer for it. It was to be called, “What Lies Ahead”. I began writing each season out, coming up with more drama and problems as the friends became older.
About a month later, my computer crashed again. This was in October of 2007. I was beginning to lose hope on my series altogether.
In December 2007, my computer was finally fixed, but it had been completely erased. I decided it was probably best to cancel the series and that’s what I had intentionally wanted to do. Then I began listening to that song again, “23” and it reminded me of my plans with, “What Lies Ahead”. The song inspired me to complete the series. I knew I wanted everyone to see what happens just as I wanted to see the outcome as well. I came up with a new and improved script, skipping a year and changing the children to teens.
On January 10, 2008 I uploaded the first episode of “What Lies Ahead”. The rest is history.
In 2003 I was walking past the video game rack in Blockbuster. I saw a video game called, “The Sims Bustin’ Out”. My sister and I looked at each other as we took in the cover of girls with big boobs and not much clothes on. “Stupid” we had said to each other that day. Little did I know this game would soon take me over and consume my life.
In 2004 my best friend introduced me to, “The Sims”. The first time I played it I fell in love with the game. In 2005 I bought, “The Sims 2” ,and I began playing it all the time, loving it even more as I discovered new things to do with it. I even tried filming using the built in video recorder, but my computer was too old to handle it and it froze.
When I got a new computer I installed the Sims 2. I decided to try filming, and to my surprise it ended up working. I began filming random videos of my Sim families just for my own pleasures.
During that summer my sister and I made our own home movies with my parent’s camcorder. A couple of months later, I discovered “Windows Movie Maker” on my computer. I then realized the home movies my sister and I were creating could be edited on the computer so week after week we filmed and edited are own movies.
For the next year I continued making home movies with my sister and playing the Sims 2. In the summer of 2007 I came across “Strangerhood”, a Sims 2 series created by EA Games. I was blown away with the series because I had no idea people were making series with the Sims 2. I decided to look for more movies created with the Sims 2. One of the first videos I ever saw was jaydee’s “Helena” music video. I then realized I wanted to make movies with the Sims 2 as well.
Without even thinking about it, I made a family of Sims, moved them onto a lot and created rooms and houses for them. This was the beginning of my first Sims 2 series, “On 7th Street”. I had no script and no plotline for my series, it was done spontaneously. I filmed a couple of scenes picked some music and threw in some subtitles. That was my series.
On June 29, 2007 I uploaded four episodes of my first Sims 2 series onto youtube, the series was a failure. I had no fans, no views and to be honest the series wasn’t good at all. I decided to cancel the show and I removed “On 7th Street” from youtube. A couple months later, I decided I should start a new series and that’s exactly what I did, but my computer crashed two weeks later and I had to cancel the new show as well.
